I'm presently using a MD stereo unit to record a choir and orchestra at concert. I then load this into the pc for editing. Naturally I have extremely limited balance control and want to use more mics. An 8-track HD recorder capable of, say, 90 minutes recording would seem to be the ideal answer.
I want a simple unit, cheap, naturally, which can take up to 8 mikes. The units that I see in the market from Tascam, Roland, Fostex, etc. are obviously focussed on a different user with full mixing built in which I don't need. They also seem to have only two, sometimes four, mic inputs. (I'm looking at the 500 pounds or so market - about $700).
Can anyone recommend a unit with those features so that I can record my 4 or 8 tracks and then upload into my pc (Cool Edit) for final mixing?
