    performance issues?

im running winxp with a delta 1010, cubase sx and a 1gig pc with plenty of ram. I have tweaked xp in accordance with musicxp.net. However cubase cant even playback two or three tracks tracks whilst recording one track. I dont have any plugins running or eqs. Everything else seems to be in order ie drivers upto date and have tried the pci card in different slots and its on its own irq.
Can anyone suggest what the problem is please?

What chipset does your M/B utilize?

What is the latency setting on your ASIO Driver?

What kind of hard drive controller do you have?

Have you run any benchmarks to see what your hard drive transfer rate is?

    Just some things to discuss.

    cheers for the reply ,
chipset is sis which is meant tobe ok for m-audio. Ive tried loads of different latency settings none seems to make much difference. I dont know what hard drive controller is in use- how do i find this out?
How do you do benchmark tests?

Your in a tuff spot. Are you sure the 1010 is not having problems? Have you tried to run Cubase with the on-board soundcard of the MB?

Try dissabling the on-board SC in the bios and then re-installing the Delta-1010 drivers. Is the 1010 sharing with other IRQ's? If so move the 1010 to another slot until it is not.

Is DMA mode enabled? Do you have the chipset drivers loaded for that MB?

If it is an old SIS you may need a new MB and an overhaul.

yes dma mode is enabled. The onboard sound is disabled and has always been. Im pretty sure the 1010 is ok cause it does everything it should do. When the audio skips tskmanager shows that cpu capacity reaches 100% this makes me think the 1010 is ok.
