passport 300 issues- not enough volume?

i would like to add more speakers or monitors to this system. we only use a sennheiser e835 mic. but i cant seem to get the vocals loud enough. I've tried different set-ups for practice and tend to either get feedback and/or too much of the instruments being picked up. im sure there are lots of variables. any help would be appreciated.

Is one person using the mic, or is it a general mic on for several things? If one person is using it then it should't pick up too much other stuff, unless that person's voice is really soft.

just one person is using the mic. he doe not cup the ball of the mic-so there is no feedback issue there. the speakers are not pointing at him or the mic. we've redirected them towards the band. we can hear him but its just not loud enough. i have a digitech vocal processor that causes feedback on some settings-so we havn't been using that at the moment. is it easy to add speakers or upgrade them and use the original ones for monitors? i dont know much about ohms and speakers. . .
