    Custom Gibson??

I would like to know if anybody knows how to order a custom Gibson guitar? (as in specifically made to my specs not a Gibson Custom guitar)

I saw a video on youtube with a guy talking about how you can order your own custom guitar from gibson and choose your own luthier and things like that.

I would like to order specialized versions of:

    2 Les Paul Standards
    1 Reverse Flying-V

    Hi Joseph,
I'm not certain about the video you saw, but I can relay some of my experience having had a customer order a guitar like this. First off it would be done by Gibson Custom Shop and will be pretty expensive. Figure on roughly twice as much (depending on what your specs are) as the closest "standard" model. Count on it taking anywhere from 6-18 months to get your guitar. As for choosing your own luthier, I'm not sure how that works but I think they'd have to allocate the job to a luthier that specializes in the type of guitar you're ordering. Also which luthier has the bandwidth to take on your job would come into play. Lastly they don't seem to be willing to make a guitar that doesn't "fit" with the structural/design integrity and legacy of the model. In other words asking for a strat style neck on a LesPaul body likely won't happen. But something like a stars and stripes finish on a LP Custom with 3 p90 pickups, maple fingerboard with stainless steel frets might be in play. At the end of the day it will still be a Gibson and be part of their lineage even if it is built to your spec.
