Does anyone run midi connections in a studio setting that are longer than 50 ft?

For example running Midi from the Drum room to control room in a studio.

Hopefully someone will have some insight on this because I've wondered this, as well.

I wonder if, as in audio cables, the signal degrades the longer the lead is. But on the other hand, it's just digital data.

    Can anyone shed any light?

The digital signal does degrade with distance. However, as long as the voltages are within tolerance at the receiver and there is no noise induced into the system, it should perform as expected. Still, you should generally not operate MIDI or any other asynchronous digital signals outside their specifications.
