    Microphone

For a singer/songwriter who plays through an acoustic guitar amp with XLR, is the Audix OM series a good mic, and is there really a difference between the OM6 and the OM7 besides ten dollars?

The main difference between the OM6 and the OM7 is the way they pick up sound. The OM7 has a very narrow pickup pattern, so it's especially good at rejecting sound from the sides which is nice in really loud situations (on tight rock stages, stages with loud wedge monitors, etc). If you're singing with an acoustic guitar I don't think that the extra bit of guitar that the OM6 might pick up would really be an issue, so it should work out fine.
