New CS - Terrible Latency Issue On Vocal Track

I have a new CS, i5, Windows-7 64-bit 12gig ram with PT9. When I record a vocal track it has a huge amount of latency - almost like a delay plug in but this is on a new song, 1st track recorded with no plug-ins. If I select "Low Latency" it of course goes away but I should not be getting this in this type senario. My old CS with PT8 did not have this problem. Is this a set-up setting I can change? Can anyone explain how I can correct this? All comments appreciated!
