main bass riff came out of nowhere, one of those noodly jammy vampy riffs out there, guitarist jumped on it, drummer jumped on it, and it's off to the races

signal chain is simple:
vox => u87 => UA 610 => Purple Audio MC77
bass = > sansamp => Germ
guitar => Blues Jr => sm57 => MP2NV => EQ2NV
drums => Peluso r14 on overheads to AEA TRP, SNARE sm57 to Vintech Audio x81, KICK beta52 to Vintech Audio x73
mix is just a bit of verb and delay on vox, very little comp to tame the drums. no automation whatsoever.
