    MIDI Guitar question...

Okay, here's what I want to do... someone give me some options please!!

I have a Gibson SG as my main electric guitar. I record on Cubase LE 4. Is there a way to hook my guitar up to Cubase using MIDI that I can simultaneously record the live signal from the guitar and a MIDI signal. I want to take the MIDI signal and change that into virtual instruments but also have the "normal" guitar track as well, which I would then run through Guitar Rig. Can I just buy the Roland GK pickup and plug in directly to my USB interface and use the guitar as a controller, or do I need the "brain" too?

No, you need to have something to convert the signal from the pickup, which is analog, into MIDI. The Roland GR55 kit will do that and more.

Will that also send just the raw MIDI notes into cubase?

Is there a less expensive option? $800 is a bit out of my price range. Basically, I just want to use my guitar as a midi controller instead of a keyboard.

haha a little old... funny that even after all these years it's still quite a feat to accomplish.
