The DVD I Mastered Crackles in my DVD Player but Sounds Great on my Computer?
I'm trying to master a DVD with music and speech.
In my editor the audio sounds great. I've made sure the audio doesn't clip/peek. Now when I render it onto a DVD there's still no clips/or peeks at least if I look at the WAV file that is going onto the DVD. I'm honestly not sure if that can be opened up and viewed after it's on the DVD. (Oh, and it isn't being trans coded when it's put on the DVD so it should be the same as the file it started as.)
Anyway, if I take this DVD and watch it on my computer (hooked to my surround sound.) It sounds great. No clipping/peeking. But if I take that same DVD and put it in my DVD player I have a lot of clipping/peeking!
I was told I needed to cut down the audio to make it stop that so I just reduced the whole audio level by 3.58dB so it is approximately 66% of its original amplitude. Still sounded good in my computer (though with less volume potential.) And it crackled less in the DVD player, but still crackled. Now, on this one I found there was a sweet spot where I could turn down the audio and it wouldn't crackle, but of course it was significantly quieter to the point I was uncomfortable with that.
My original recording sounds good, and it sounds good on the computer, but why on the same sound system just with a different player does it crackle? I was comparing it to professional DVDs that I have and for the similar loudness they don't crackle, and I don't have to turn them down until I finda sweet spot where they don't crackle. So what am I screwing up here?
