cannot launch java application

I am getting the following message that won't let me launch setmaker. i think this started when i installed snow leopard, but I'm not sure about that.
"cannot launch java application
uncaught exception in main method: java.lang.NullPointerException"

any suggestions on what i should do?

It seems that there are no mam know java in this forum. I saw two posts about Java and no one replied.
