I own Logic Platinum 4.8.1, but use a hardware DAW for the audio, due to computer not being the fastest around. Works great. I just bought the Big Box special, primarily to get the soft synths along with the new Logic 5, and also so that I would have an extra Logic for when I get a new computer. I felt I may want to keep my old dongle and use old computer just for sequencing, or use with a Laptop, etc, which is why I didn't just buy the 5 upgrade.
My question is: If I install the new version, can I still keep the old 4.8.1 on the computer with the older serial dongle incase the 5 doesn't work so well with my older system? I have a Power Mac with a G3/300hz Sonnet upgrade card, and the USB port I'd be using with the new XSKey would be on a PCI card. Logic 5 from the big box would be fine for sequencing, but I don't want to lose my 4.8.1 Platinum in case I want to use for occasional features not in the LA 5, and/or use it to upgrade to Platinum when I get a faster computer.
Or should I just install only the softsynth goodies and use them with 4.8.1. Emagic is closed for a few days, just in case someone knows on this forum I thought I'd ask.
