    Post Tracking vocals

Previously I used a Roland VS-1880 as my main recorder and mixer and I would track vocals with my Isa 220 and TT CL-1B together.

    Mic>Out 220>In CL -1B>Out CL-1B>Into VS-1880

However, now I own Pro tools 7.4 003R and I have both units on different I/O and weren’t sure if I should re-hook the units together again or use them separately. I was suggested that having both units would give me more flexibility, not so sure of that.

Used the Isa 220 as the input in Pro tools and inserted the CL-1B when tracking vocals and heard slightly difference in sound, even tried using an aux channel to make this work. If I can keep both units separate, but incorporate the TT CL-1B while track vocals this would be awesome, but if I have to chain both units again than I will do so as well. Thoughts appreciated!!

yes u can make the 1880 a slave and use it with pro tools through midi i think.
I myself still have my 1880 and sometimes use the guitar input on it and run into pro tools bcs i liked the 5150 guitar sound on the roland.
    chorus effects are nice too.

Let me clarify myself: When I refer to the units, I'm speaking of the Isa 220 and Tube-Tech CL-1B. Once I chain the two units together for tracking, is it possible without disconnecting the two units can I use them separately as inserts into Pro tools. If not, then I will have to disconnect the units and hook them up separately using different I's/O's on the 003R.

You would definitely want to use the 220 in front of the Digi interface as your preamp. And you can put the Tube Tech box on one of the inserts and use it. But if you want to use it as in insert from within the software (after tracks are recorded) then you should patch it directly to one of the inputs and outputs (not just an insert on the hardware). This will give you the most flexibility, and you can still use it when tracking if you route things accordingly.

Das, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you mentioned hardware inserts on the Tube-Tech.

Das, as you mentioned earlier after I get finished tracking the vocals I will have to connect the Isa 220 and Tube-Tech CL-1B in different I/O for mixing, which will give me the most flexibility. Thanks
