I am upgrading my current keyboard-it's off to Uni with my son, and am interested in the Kurzweils as I've heard them gigged and like them. But I can't find a single review for the newest-the sp3x. Anyone out there with an opinion?!
Or should I just go for the pc3x?
I have not tried the SP3X, my church primary keyboard is the SP2X, which we have had for about 18 months. It is a good playing and sounding keyboard. The SP3X adds the base ROM sound set from the PC1 or PC2. I play a PC2 at the church, also has some good sounds. The primary keyboardist uses one elect. piano sound all the time on the SP3X, and I fill in whatever parts are needed for the music, pianos, bass, orchestral sounds, organ, etc.
I have both a PC3X (one of the first 65 in the US, had it over a year), and a PC3, recently purchased just for a more compact gigging board. The best sounding keyboards I've ever played, especially in areas like piano and orchestral. The new Strings ROM has a multitude of sectional strings, very good realism. The PC3 pianos are the first in a hardware board that make me feel like I don't need a soft synth like Ivory, at least not for live work.
My personal feeling is that you will be well pleased either way. If the extra money for the PC3 is not too much of a burden, it is better sounding and more capable.
