Sounds like you could use a broadcasting mic. Not sure why you want a condenser mic though. The RE20 and SM7 are standards in broadcasting. You hear those 2 all over the radio...Howard Stern show comes to mind, but they are dynamic mics. For an even cheaper dynamic mic, I guess I recommend an SM57. But for a radio show, you can't go wrong with an RE20 or SM7.

If you have your heart set on a cheap condenser, then maybe an MXL or CAD mic would work fine. A KSM27 should work good too....but I would consider going for a decent dynamic in your price range.

    For that price...

    For a little more...

I own the Perception 400 (compare to the 420 available now) and it is very nice. I imagine that these cheaper versions at least sound similar.

+1 on the SM57 with a foam windscreen(Easy to sterilize). This is one of the most universal mics around.

The idea is to learn about producing, the equipment is secondary.

Like other guys, I suggest the Shure SM57. Voice sounds NATURAL, which is what you want. You can find a used one for about 80 bucks maybe even cheaper, then DEFINITELY get that windscreen as mentioned before. It's like 15 bucks I think but if you're doing broadcast then you're gonna want to get that for sure so that you P's and other "airy" sounds don't accentuate too much.

Note: A new SM57 only costs you 99 bucks.

Another Note: If you're thinking of only doing this project, then selling the SM57 will be EASY afterwards.

    Sm 58

In your price range, there isn't a condenser that is going to sound as good as a SM 58. As an instrumental mic, the SM 57 may be a touch better, but unless you have a rather odd voice, you will have to spend a whole lot of money to sound better than those Sure classics.

I was in the music store this morning and noticed SM 58s for $99, so that should fit your budget, even with a 30% VAT.
