how to connect firewire 410 to my laptop?

hi, smart guys,anyone can tell me how to connect firewire 410 m-audio to my laptop(vista)it does not have firewire input,but i got a cheap cardbus(ieee 1394a with 3 ports firewire... the card has a little input ,like 12 v dc input ,but i cant get information about what kind of adapter i need,need i the adapter to make the card works?than you.

Some cards do require a power adapter, something admittedly inconvenient. Sadly I don't recall if specifically FireWire cardbuses do.
Try it without the adapter first and see if it works.

You have 2 options.

1) Use the power adapter that came with the 410. They come with one in the box, so unless you bought it on ebay with no adapter, you should have one.

OR

2) get a power adapter for the expresscard since they do not provide bus power. You do not have to have bus power for things like hard drives and devices that provide their own power.

thanks rad and jrummerj , i did it,all that you told me... and it does not work.then appear a window that shows a message like " firewire device was not found in the computer...dont connect the firewire now.. turn off the pc and then connect the firewire etc etc... and if it doesnt works install the software again" I'll do that (install the driver) and i going to try to get help from m-audio support too,thank you guys.
