    Cajon Help

Ok this is prolly a dumb question. I was thinking about getting a Cajon and I just had a question I couldn't figure out. I've seen videos of these guys playing on them but doesn't look like they are hitting them that hard. I know they are hooked up to a amp or something. My question is are they hooked up to a amp like you would hook up a guitar or is it a mic that is near it. Thanks

Probably a mic. You really don't need to hit them very hard to get a decent amount of sound. Also, the bigger the cajon, generally the easier is it to get it to resonate and to get a lot of different tones out of.

Could have been either. I've seen cajons mic'd and there are some with integrated electronics, like an acoustic guitar with pickups.

I recorded a campfire jam and the cajon was the furthest from the mic and it came out loud and clear, good projection.
