Hello...I have an older Mackie 24.4 SR mixer i want to modify. At the back of the manual it gives a few scenarious where you can open the mixer and cut a few wires and re-solder a jumper to (for instance) make the Sends 1 and 2 POST fader instead of pre fader.
What i want is a diagram of what to cut/solder to turn all the Channel inserts into POST eq and fader. Does anyone know of a site/human that either has these sorts of diagrams (step-by-step) or would do this sort of work?

I'm not positive on this, but I'm pretty sure that'd be quite a bit more complicated than just changing jumpers to change where the sends appear in the chain...
Actually...to put were the sends are in the chain is just 10 steps...you open the mixer, snip 2 wires and solder 2 or 3 jumper pads. Very simple...so simple that they included it in the manual.
..but the actual question was on how to make the Channel inserts POST eq and fader.

Right, that's what I was trying to say...changing the sends is relatively simple, but I'm pretty sure that changing the inserts would be a lot more complicated. They've set it up so that the sends are easy to modify since that's a pretty common thing, but since they use so much miniature surface-mount technology I'm pretty sure that changing the inserts would be a lot more complicated.
Yes, i gave the schematic a look last night and the sends are relatively well situated. The channel inserts are a lot more scary...they sort of tap off to the mute and then on to a bunch of other stuff...but i cannot tell what exactly I would have to do. The schematics are not too bad to follow, but staring at the printed board is daunting.
I guess i'll just have to keep dreaming...or I could try it, blow the board and order a nice new eight bus version from sweetwater
