    Hmmmm.....

    Hardly anyone mentions Carlos Santana.

Saw him in NYC Central Park in '66. Absolutely the reason I started playing.

    Then

On July 5th, 1967 I was at a Rheingold Beer Central Park Music Festival featuring The Young Rascals (please don't ask, it was a girl, she loved them, I wanted her, 'nuff said) and the announcer gets on and says the opening act didn't show up and replacing them was a new group, just arrived from England, "Ladies & Gentlemen...The Jimi Hendrix Experience!".

    Music changed forever.

My other eight are: Clapton, Page, VanHalen, Beck, Billy Gibbons, Trower, BB, and Edge.

    Peace... 4D

    Cool I don't know if I can name 10...

cause I'm pretty particular as to who I like but, here goes.
Buddy Holly, Scotty Moore, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Link Ray, Cliff Gallop(deceased) & Johnny Meeks,(Both from Gene Vincents' Blue Caps), the late, great Chet Atkins and more recently, Mark Knopfler, and my all time favorite, The great James Burton. By the way, I forgot to mention that I'm a senior citizen. If any of you youngsters want a history lesson in Rock and roll guitar 101, check out some of these guys! They created rock guitar and unfortunately most of them passed before Eric Clapton bought his first guitar!.Hey, that's 10.!

    Question

Why is no one mentioning Steve Howe or Alex Lifeson? Two of the best ever!!!

Page, Gilmore, Clapton, Howe, Jake Cinninger of Umphrey's Mcgee, SRV, Lifeson, Beck, Hendrix, Santana, May, in no particular order.

In no particular order, we'll see if I can get 10

    Tommy Emmanuel
    Randy Roades
    Sean Watkins
    Joe Perry
Angus Young (yeah, I know he's not that great, but he's cool)
Lincoln Brewster (the contemporary Christian dude)
    Dave Mustaine
Recently, have been wanting to play like Orianthi and Ted Nugent.
And, last, I hafta say, my favorite guitarist, Zakk Wylde.

That's 10, here's a few extra: Jimmy Page, Brad Paisely, Keith Urban, Dimebag Darryl, Chet Atkins, A guy at church named Michael (he's pretty good), and I'm sure there's a few I missed. Will update as I think of more that influenced me.

    Live well, rock on.

    tough choices

Really hard to narrow it to 10, there are just so many great ones, depending on what your tastes are but here goes
Peter Green(he taught Gary Moore most of what he knew)
    Duane Allman
Ian Anderson (if you've ever seen him live and acoustic, you'd know why)
    SRV
    Jeff Beck
    Robert Fripp
    David Gilmour
    Jimi Hendrix
    Carlos Santana
    Albert King
I know I've left off a ton of great players, but had to narrow it to 10, but if I'd have had more room I would have added Gary Moore,Eric Clapton,BB King,Robin Trower,etc...etc...and that's not even any number of great country artists, but I am not a country fan.
