Trident 8t series

i realize these are not "real" tridents, but what do you guys think of them?
i got to play around with one at AES NY and i am thinking it will be my upgrade when i find the funds to do so.

i am looking at the 8t 16 with meter bridge, i was quoted a bit under $6,000USD

Looks like a pretty economical piece of gear. I wouldn't mind having one.

that is essentially my way of thinking about it. it sounded great, it looks nice and fancy(not a big selling point, but it doesn't hurt) and it isn't abnormally expensive

Even at $6000 you're only looking at $375/channel. That looks pretty smokin' to me. There are few instances when I've ever needed more than 16 tracks in at once. I can't think of a circumstance other just for the purpose of cues that I'd use the EQ (does that make a snob?), but still looks like a straightforward utilitarian piece of equipment. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but from what I understand the preamps aren't too bad.

according to the rep at AES the pres are the same thing that are in the trident 80 series or w/e
