    Question Miking a Yamaha CP-70B

I have a Yamaha CP-70B electric grand piano. Great Vintage instrument.

I'm thinking of lining in the stereo outputs plus stereo miking the harp for some bright acoustic strings sound then doing a mix of both pick-up electric and acoustic. Should I also try a room mic with the pick-up sound turned off?

Does anyone have advice on miking techniques for the CP-70B?

    Thanks,

    Benjamin

It never really occurred to me to mic one of these, but I'll bet it would sound quite a bit different from the line out. Since you aren't likely to get a very convincing "real" piano sound no matter what you do then I assume you're going for an effected sort of sound. Experimentation is the best method here. If you want something that sounds more real you can obviously explore any number of more modern electronic instruments that have pretty good piano emulations in them.
