It has probably already been done, but what do you guys think?
I've always liked Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, James Jamerson, Flea, etc...
Who do you guys think is the best?

Victor Wooten. I saw him live in a Bela Fleck concert, and W O W.....he is amazing.

vctor get's my 100 vote.. i like geddy but his music is a bit "you have to choose it".. HE WON BEST BASS PLAYER SO MANY TIMES HE CREATERD THE HAWL OF FME
I had excellent chance to hang out with victor.... he slept over a few nights when we first met in 92... he made memories with my daughter.... I wish we still kept up.. but my bass playing has become sad.
True, Wooten is a great bassist. Just not really my type of music I suppose.
There are actually an incredible amount of talented jazz bassists, but I don't listen to much jazz. I mainly listen/write rock music, but when I do listen to some of the great jazz bassists, they really do blow away a lot of the rock bassists.
Can't say that I'm a Geddy fan though. He's good, but I think that there are quite a few better rock bassists.

The bass player for Necrophagist is amazing. I can't remember his name though. John Paul Jones is good too.
Vic Wooten, Bootsy collins. Marcus Miller, Flea, Geddy Lee, Roger Waters, John Paul Jones, Jack Cassady, Muzz Skillings, Les Claypool.
