I am into music that mixes some Mid-Eastern and Latin Sounds, Disco, 80s Pop, Funk, Crunk - well, I guess a big mishmash of styles. I currently use an Ensoniq EPS-16 Plus with tons of sounds collected since '92. I also have a KorgMICRO, Pro Tools LE and a ton of sampled sounds (percussion, hits, samples, loops) and last but not least an MPC1000. I actually like to build my beats in Pro Tools. I have some nice plug-ins like XPAND (with a huge variety of sounds), Strike (for different beats I can bite from and Sampletank. I will use ANYTHING that sounds like it will work in my beats. I don't care if it is a snare from a Jessica Simpson track or a sample from Johnny Cash. Use what you got and you'll be good. I bring in some musicians for heavy keyboard, guitar and I have a drummer. And believe it or not, there are some free sounds you can download from the net and if you tweak them, you can get some really cool sounds. Have fun most of all and remember, the coolest part of all this, is that when you get a track done, you have something that never existed before you sat down to do your thing.
