yeah! i feel very fortunate. i am only 22 years old, but i have been dreaming of having my own studio since i was about 14. the place is right next to my house out in the middle of no where north east of ftwayne. it used to be a cabinet shop that my father started his business in. so i have 3 phase power and all. the place already had 13 ft ceilings. i framed everything off the existing walls to make about 6 in of dead air space. i have central heating and air conditioning as well. i ran that above the drop ceiling. the ducts are oversized to make silent air flow. i put the drop ceiling in at about 10' 6". this left plenty of room for the ductwork, and also created more air space for a bass trap. i have acoustic tiles with 10 inch bats of insulation on top. also, as you can see, it is treated with auralex 2" acoustic foam. the room sounds great. to my ears anyway. i did all of this pretty much myself. everything except the HVAC, electric, and carpet. working for my dad (cabinet shop) has given me about 10 years of carpentry expirience. aaah the feeling of having created something!!!! kinda brings out the tim allen in ya!!!
