Hey all, quick question you probabbly can't answer, but lets see if we have any brainy people out there.

I have AKAI DR-8 hard disk recorders in my studio and ran into a problem the other night I'd never had before. It's called NO DISK SPACE.

While recording an acoustic duo the DR-8's jumped out of record mode and just sat there, I looked at the display and noticed it said out of disk space. Damn! These guys were perfectionists and they had 49 takes. That along with all my other stuff out on the disk just filled it up.

The problem IS the DR-8 records in clips...clip1 clip2 clip3 and so on. On each take, it doesn't overwrite the previous clip thus filling up the hard drive.

My question is (and if you've never used a dr-8 I doubt you can answer this) how do I delete a specific clip? I set the things up to record in destructive mode but it still puts clips out there. I don't need these clips, they're just in the way and taking up HD space.

I talked to an AKAI rep who seemed more interested in getting me to buy the newer DR-16 pro series (which by the way does the same thing) but I really don't have an extra 7 grand to play with right now...f I did, I'd go buy a new girlfriend.

Thanks in advance!
