i wanna set up a recording studio at home but im new 2 the whole music production scene. iv got a basic idea on how to produce the actual beats, so im not worried about that. what i need to know is what equipment will i need to add to my home computer 2 enable me to record my own music? iv been lookin through several websites that suggest a keyboard, sampler etc but id like to chat 2 sum1 who can tell me in black n white exactly what i need 2 get so that i can have a fully functional music studio at home.
First off, immediately get a good beginner recording book (spend $20 before spending hundred$/thousand$) that shows you what you need to get started and how to hook everything up in your studio:
Home Recording for Musicians by Jeff Strong - $15 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/076...books&v=glance
(Wish I'd had that when I started; would have saved me lots of money and time and grief)
cheerz 4 the links, i been reading up on tweakheadz. by the looks of it i need a good soundcard, midi keyboard, mixer n mic. what im not sure about is do i NEED a mic pre-amp to get crisp vocals or would a preamps job be done by the mixer? appreciate the help
