    mbox kills iMac logic boards?

I purchased a iMac G5 and mbox (we aslo have a M-Audio Keystation 49e hooked up) last winter and everything worked great for 3 months. Ten the iMac went black screen. We took it to the Mac Store and got it back a week later. They said that they replaced the logic board.

It ran for 2 days and failed again and they again replaced the logic board.

It ran to a few days and failed again.

After the third failure they replaced the computer with a brand new Intel based iMac.

The new sytem ran for a couple of weeks and failed again they replaced the logic board. This is the system that I am working with now.

The Mac Store guys are now pointing their fingers at the mBox as the reason for all of these failures. It that possible? If so what actions should I take? Would a hub protect the iMac. The mBox manual indicates that the Mbox should not be used with a hub.

I have a couple of grand invested and we are at a loss.

I've heard of this before. I think I read a thread in the macaddict forums addressing this issue. I suggest heading over that direction about it.

is this so for a macbook and mbox mini? if so id like to know before i spring for both for my mobile rig...
-the best demo track a 30 dollar overdraft fee can buy... news just in- consumer reports has had to place the shure sm57 in a ranking all its own - "invincible" this category previously only known to chuck norris. in unrelated news, during the recording sessions of the "eyes of the ranger" theme song for "walker, texas ranger", chuck norris had to use an sm57 because every other mic melted in fear being that close to his mouth.

No, I've heard that the macs were having issues (logic board related) from the Mbox. However, I have a macbook pro and an Mbox2 and it works just fine.

Ha! I've not had any issues with mine yet. Especially with compatibility with Digi based products (which can't really be said for other manufacturers ....ah hem Dell....).

Yeah... a 3rd party product fries the logic board. You got us! Well now that the jig is up, I'm selling my G5 straight away for a brand new Dell! *gag* LOL

That's pretty crappy. I'm glad to hear the Intel-Macs aren't having this issue since I'm thinking about picking one up.
