Anybody use KRK Monitors??

Im looking to get some new monitors. Im leaning towards the KRK RP-5`s. Ive heard they have more good low and high ends, and are just as good as some of the higher end monitors. Any input on these

I have used KRK V6's, a step up from the rp series. I really like the KRK V6's. They sound really good, and have a surprisingly good representation with the low end. However with a monitor of this size, the low end still needs some getting used to, to translate well. Here are my thoughts on krk's. They are punchy monitors, the drums and such have a good smack on them. Very present, I have found that while in my mix, some things sound more forward, but when listenening on other systems, they are about right, so sometmes I have to compensate and mix accordingly. I have learned my monitors really well, and rarely have to remix now, and I can endure them for long periods of time. I enjoy mixing Music on these better then Genelecs, at least that is me (genelec 1030A). I preffered VO and Post work on the genelecs however.

I would also seriously consider moving up to the v6's or even better V8's. I am not sure how the rp's will compare to the v6's, but hopefully close maybe.

KRKs are good. I'd recommend going the extra mile for the V6 or V8 monitors. Though the Rokits are good, you'll definitely get a quality boost with the V series.

I can't wait to hear the new KRKs coming out to go against the Genelecs.

I have a pair of KRK Rockit RP-8s and an RP-10S sub. I love mine. Excellent for short money.

I do own a pair of KRK Rokit 5 and am very pleased with them. As noted above, some elements in your mix might stand out as needing change, but on other systems those elements will sound just in place. I would however suggest investing in a sub or a bigger size as it is hard to get a good response for your bass levels on the 5 inch woofer. Good quality for the money if thats all you got.

There are better monitors out there, KRK's are decent. Since studio monitors are one of the most important items in your studio, it's always better to aim high than settle for mediocre speakers. Genelecs, Dynaudios, ADAMs, Tannoy Precisions...
