how much ram is acceptable for a DAW??? I have 512 at the moment.
My daw isnt the greatest but it work s. Ive moded a gateway (dont look at me like that i got it for free) Riped out everything i didnt need ,ie. modem, tuner card..ect, installed a MOTU 24i . Its only 600mhz
processer a pent III, Its got a Intel Bx motherboard, a promis 100
fastrack card 2 40gig 7200rpm drives in a raid/stripe aray. and a singel
ide drive for my os/programs. it has 2 banks of 128 ram and i bank of
256dimm ram i was thinking about craming 2 more banks of 256 to
replace the 128s , would this benifit me?? some one said i might
be able to upgrade my processer to 800mhz (if the bx will take it )
any ideas??
512 should be sufficient for most programs. Check the web site of whatever software you want to use for RAM recomendations. Generally, you can't go wrong with more RAM.
