it depends entirely on the genre of music
I.E. Rock - better to be acoustic drum samples into something like Drumagog. more natural.
I.E. Electronic and or Rap etc
Midi style.

Mastering software particularly the compressor... was causing some of the left to blend with the right and vice versa. Thanks for the help! Especially Forbes... I owe you one!

Even in pro tools I am still hearing the click on the right side when it's panned hard left.
Does pro tools le not have true 100% panning?
.... yes even in pro tools before mixdown. I'll literally hard pan the click and the samples... i can turn off the left monitor (click) and still hear it in the right monitor.
