Hello all! I'm new to the world of "computer music" and I need some advice. I'm a guitarist who wants to start recording with the computer. (My old Tascam board is just too big/old) I also want to do some midi work with my cheap Synth using Software Synths.
My computer: 1.33GHz, 512mb, with two 60GB hard drives. WinXP and I have a Sound Blaster Live Platinum. I would like to get a pro sound card.
Can anyone recommend software/sound card that might be best for my needs?
Thanks!
Mike

This is a very involved question and should be handled by one of the sales engineers at Sweetwater. I don't mind helping, but it will take a great deal of time and I'd be doing you a disservice if I didn't give you the opportunity to absolutely spend my time to get the right products for what you want to do within your budget. Give me a call or drop me a private message and we discuss anything specific to your needs that way. We try to reserve the forums for more general issues that a diverse group can benefit from.

well youve got your DAW down pretty good.
check out the new Terratec sound card with the breakout box...very sweet card!
as far as VSTi's go, youre going to have a program that supports VSTi's. Like N-Track, Fruity Loops...or the "pro" programs such as Cubase and Logic as well as a midi cable that connects to your game port on the sound card.
