First off, the issue of folded horn vs. front facing subs. I understand that the main advantage of folded horn subs is the massive amount of bass output. But they are also wayyy bigger and heavier, so is the difference really worth it? Also powered vs. unpowered. What are the advantages of each? I really don't have much experience in the area of subwoofers, but I'm in the market for one, maybe two. I just picked up a pair of JBL JRX115's, powered by a yamaha EMX 660, and I'm looking for more bass output. I'm considering one or two JRX 118 SP's. I really don't know what I'm talkin about, so I'll take any advice anyone has.

Before we all chime in with advice, we need to know the application.

it's for a giging band, so basically live rock shows.

Possibly more than you need depending on the size space you're looking at filling. The LS700P's are OK also and pretty darn deceving for their size.

Hi, You should check out the Peavey SP 118, I own 2 of these Subs, they are great for live sound applications, and Djing, they are really powerful too, with Black Widow speakers, man these subs pound, they are reliable and resonably priced too!! Good Luck...
