can someone please help me, i have 2 good premaps and if i want to A/B them with the same mic i have to unplug the mic and replug it into a differnet input. I think what i need is a de-normalled patchbay, any other suggestions would be great. if you want ot chek out my list go to

Don't run mic signals with phantom power through a patchbay. What I would do is first split the mic signal using a transformer isolated splitter like the ProCo MS3 (http://www.sweetwater.com/ms3/) and run it to both preamps. Then take the line level outputs of the preamps into two channels of a console or an A-B switch to compare them.

that sounds liek a good idea, i would still have to run into my live room to switch it, i have a snake ran between the 2, u nless you suggest to keep it inline all the time

That's okay. Just run the cables long enough to put the switch in your live room. Shouldn't make any difference.

is that the only option, i was looking for something clean and permanant, i dont mind spending the money if it is worth it

hey thanks alot, i am working on some more pop/rock stuff right now. It is way better than anything else i have engineered/produced. I will put a post up when it is done. It is also the first thing i have recorded with my Universal LA-610, Focusrite 428, and Nuemann BCM-104 so it sounds considerably better, thank you so much for your complement!!!!!!!

Jeff,
I have all my preamps connected to my patchbay. I plug the mic into the patchbay and do all my routing to my compressors and such through patchbays also. Is this a problem?
