I have a Mac G3 with pro Tools version 5.0 already installed. I just got these used. I bought the updated version of 5.1, and when I went to install it, it just went to a Pro Tools cover page, and sits there. You can't go to anything. It says Installation up on the right, but in grey. I finally have to just shut the computer off... I let it go for an hour and a half once. Can anyone help?? I wanted to get this update in there before I started learning how to use the Mac and the Pro Tools. I am used to PCs and Cakewalk...

Thanks for your help.

Marty,
Thats a tough one. I know that if you brought the system down here - or sent the system down to us at Sweetwater, we could get it running in a jiffy...
Which PT hardware is involved??

i think you have to uninstall the old version before you add a new version.......if im wrong about that then im sorry but i remember reading that somewhere in the manual or somthing......try it and see maybe?

I am certain that you can just trash the old version... Another thing to trash would be DAE Preferences, Digi Setup Prefs and ProTools prefs (found in System folder under "Preferences". This is a common thing to do - as those will rebuild themselves upon restarting the machine.
