I just ordered a new 2.7 Gig dual processor PowerMac G-5 (1 Gig+ of RAM) with Protools 6.9. Are there any particular issues with set up I need to be aware of. Everything I need will already be downloaded (much simpler than when I got my G-4), but I was just wondering if there is anything I need to keep in mind during the hook up and start up phase. I will be running a Digi 002R, MOTU Microexpress, Roland GR-33 guitar synth, Alesis SR-16 drum machine, Focusrite Vocalmaster Pro preamp, and along with the new computer I purchased the latest version of Sampletank and BFD drum software. Any helpful comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Tiger had some issues with Pro-Tools, but I believe they resolved it.
There's a sticky on the DUC about running Tiger with 6.9

Save one nickle and then another...you'll be there in a bazillion days.;) But seriously folks...what's an 800Mhz single processor G-4 with 2x40 Gig hard drives and 768RAM worth? Is $500.-$600. realistic/reasonable?

In all seriousness, a single processor G-4 with 80g and a little over a quarter gig is worth at most $300. Now, depending on what software is in it, you may or may not be able to get more. Macs usually retain their value better than Windows PC's, but they still decrease in value quitge quickly

That's THREE quarter Gig...Now is it worth $600.?;) Along with the usual package of plug-ins it has Antares Tube, the first (partial?) version of Sampletank, Amplitube, and Reason. The last three came with my Digi 002R. Oh well, electronics are about the only thing worse than cars when it come to depreciation. Just curious, is there anything I could use the extra computer for in my recording set up?

There's lots of stuff, really. You could use it as a server for more storage, you could use it to sequence MIDI...could be an internet only computer. Depends on what you do musically too.
