Could someone please explain to me how to install an updated version of Pro Tools in my Mac G3. I just got this Mac used, and it already has Pro Tools 5.0 in it. I bought the update, and tried to install it. I click on the icon, and a picture comes up of Pro Tools, and it just stays like that..... I got a recording from Digidesign that it freezes up at times with Mac G3, but that if you wait a half hour, it corrects itself...... well, it has been over an hour, and nothing.... Does anyone know about this problem?? Should I just skip it and use the older version?? Why did I pay the 50 bucks for the upgrade?? If this is how Macs act, I am not thrilled.....

Sounds like you don't have the relevent hardware!
When you bought the G3 did it come with the hardware aswell or was there only the software installed on the computer. If the latter, then your best bet is to download Protools Free to check out the recording or if you do have the hardware your CPU maybe too small to lauch it!

I am a new mac sound entusiast but I did just happen to check out the pro tools sight and there was a bit on double installing. It's right there in the free download section. I think it will answer your problem. Now if only I could decide what sound card would be the best for my G4 dual 550...
good luck.

I am new at Pro Tools, and am trying to read the manuals..... I am used to Cakewalk. I am trying to see how to start a session with a click track. It looks like Pro Tools doesn't have such a thing, and you have to create one. In order to Quantize a track, do I have to hook my keyboard up thru MIDI somehow, and use that??? Confused......
