Hello, im a newbie to hardcare digital audio recording, im converting from midi to digital audio. Next week I will be purchasing an

iBook 14" screen
additional 256mb ram
Cubase 5 VST/32
MOTU 828
MIDI ExpXTUSB

I will be working with music suck as Jazz, Hip Hop, Gospel, and Rock. The reason I chose the ibook laptop is because I portability. I will be ordering the external hard drie addon for the 828. I think I know what mic i want to get. does anyone have any suggestion as to what I could add to my rig. I know at the end of this month I will be getting that ne Imac :)

oh yeah I forgot to add that I currently have a Roland XP-80 and a Boss DR-660 Drumm Machine, I plan on adding a Triton or a Trinity Rack, I cant remeber off the top of my head wich one is the rackmount version

Dave,

Thanks for your post. While Cubase is a really good program, you should consider getting Digital Performer with your MOTU 828 setup. Do you have a Sales Engineer at Sweetwater? If so, he could help you with what exactly you need for this configuration. If not, you are more than welcome to call me and I'll help you out. Those new iBooks are awesome by the way!! :-) I have to admit that up until the previous round of iBooks, I wasn't that impressed... but these new ones just rock!
