im running pro tools 6.7 on my windows based setup and im confused about phase reverse. how do i reverse the phase on a mic if im recording the top and bottom of a snare? the mics are both shure
sm-57's. is this something i can do in pro tools or do i have to get a plug-in or something? im not using a mixer, just pre amps straight into the 002. thanks.

Do your preamps have a phase reversal switch on them? Some of them do, so all you have to do is flip a switch on one channel. I think there is a plug-in, but I don't know if it comes stock with the 002 or you have to buy it. The other way is to get a mic cord and switch pins 2 and 3 on both ends. Make sure to mark this cord so it only gets used when you need to reverse the phase of one of your mics.

In Re: Pro Tools LE you would have to reverse the phase after the track is recorded by inserting a Digi 1-band eq on one or the other snare track. The 1 band EQ has a phase reversal switch.

thanks so much to both of you. i read my manual on my aphex 107 last night and sure enough it has a phase reverse button. and as for the digi i band, i will surely look at that tonight. good to know i can do it after the track has been recorded. i was trying to avoid messing with the wiring on chords but i do have some lower quality chords i can experiment with, so why not. thanks again.
