avalon U5

i've read some of my favorite bassists use this in their set up. i know it's a DI box, but let's say i wanted to use it with a bass PODxt to record some tracks, would it go before or after the pod in the chain?

Neither. Running a U5 in series w/ a Bass PODxt, either before or after, kinda defeats the purpose. Print directly from the U5 to tape/disc, & take a parallel feed (eg., a mult) to the POD, which would get printed on a separate track.

oh, right on, thanks for the input. what about in a live situation, is it run directly into the board and the amp miced?

You really should try it both before and after the Bass pod, and the way that Ed suggested. There really is not a right or a wrong, only what sounds better:)
