i'm wondering is their a way that i can use hardware effects on a single track after recording it on my computer. example i know i can insert a compressor on my snare track while recording. what i want to do is to record the raw snare track and while mix down be able to get my snare sounding like whatever i want it to sound like using a hardware compressor. sorry if this is confusing it is for me. my interface tascam fw and presonus digimax lt. would i have to buy a seperate mixer and a stereo recorder i'm confused. or are there any tricks. i feel stupid for asking because i'm sure there is an easy way to do this. thank you

What software are you using? If you are using CUbase SX 3 or Nuendo 3 you can set up outboard FX sends. The software will automatically calculate the time it takes for siganl to get out and back into the software environment and automatically delay compensate your tracks for you.

I would expect that the best thing for this would be the MOTU 24I/O.

Use your soundcard to bridge from your hardware to your software.

You can use the stereo outs as two individual mono outs if you configure it properly.

i think i'm going to buy a optical to analog converter (i have optical out coming from the tascam there is no optical in on the presonus!) it kind of sound like the two differen't brands decided to take away some simple features to save money but it screwed some me! i still can't believe there is only stereo outputs on the tascam. so my signal chain will look like so. computer-tascam-da converter-hardware-tascam?-computer? is that right?

this would give me another set of stereo outputs on another bus...right?
