well, just found this place...very nice!
i am in a VERY small band (myself, guitar, and bass) i am on the drums.
we are JUST starting out, and we will only be playing at parties and stuff for our friends. our debut is for the ky derby in a coupla weeks.
we have a couple of mics, and i just ordered a Peavey 600S 6-channel mixer from ebay ($30), so we can run our 2 mics and the guitar and bass thru it. Now...
it is an unpowered mixer, and we have no speakers, and i'm not exactly sure where to turn next.
i know we need an amp, and i know we need speakers. i found a Fender SPL-M500 Monitor amp that i can grab for $100, and i think it would do the trick, but i don't know enough about setting this stuff up to be sure.
i've also seen some powered mixer/amp combos, and i guess we could run the mixer into THOSE first, and then out to speakers, but i'm not sure of that, either.
lastly, the speakers. we really cannot afford anything fancy right now. we all 3 are pretty much just working stiffs that like to rock.
i've found several speaker combos on ebay that i feel like might work. they are Pyramid (yes...they are still around!), and i know they really overstate their whole wattage and stuff, but we just need something to help us be louder.
we don't want to mic the drums...i play loud enuff as it is. the guitar player only has a 15 watt marshall amp, and i'm not even sure what the bass amp is, but it ain't loud enough for outdoor play.
i know..most of this stuff is crap, and we all know that. we just wanna rock, and we want people to hear it. most of them will be quite intoxicated by the time we play, anyways. :)
