I currently have a Peavy Unity Series 8 Channel mixer which I would like to connect to my Windows 98 computer. I've tried connecting it from it's RCA tape outs to the mini (1/8") aux input jack on my AWE64 Sound Blaster, but the line hiss is horrible. I've got a Studio Projects C1 that sounds great through the mixer's headphone out, but once connected to the computer, while recording, sounds noisy. What would be the best way to loose the hiss, boost levels, and get a better sound in Pro Tools FREE, which I record in. I'dlike to keep by budget UNDER $150, so this could be tough. Any suggestions?
