With Motu DP 4.5 running a few synths and a GigaSampler PC (Orchestra version), what need is there for the multi-in/out ProTools OO2 rack as opposed to the more basic MBox?

I anticipate, after building midi tracks in DP, that I would simply record each instrument into the ProTools application one instrument at a time, synced by way of the MOTU Timepiece A/V.

If I am laying down one instrument at a time, and all instruments are synths/samplers, and I don't plan on having "live" sessions with multiple musicians, I am uncertain what need I would have for the multiple inputs of the OO2.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Were I to blow an extra $800 on the 002, I really need to be able to justify it!

Staff responses welcome!

Don't know if this helps much but i'm using an MBOX running PT6.7 with reason and some other plugins through rewire and such, and also a microKorg hardware synth, and i find that the I/O on the MBOX is plenty.

I believe the main difference between the MBOX and the OO2 is that the 002 can sample up to 96khz whereas the MBOX can only go to 48 (? or around there). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong! I'm not sure that the MBOX provides less processing power than the OO2. Either way you can't really go wrong.
