I think I actually have two questions here, but both come down
to questions regarding the capability of Digi002 and Pro Tools LE.
My envisioned setup is Digi 002, MusicXPC C2.
Now, I have a Headphone Amp which allows a direct signal to be fed separately into each
headphone channel (up to 4).
Whether Tracking or Overdubbing, I would like to be able to send different mixes to
the headphone amp - i.e., listening to mic and all effects/processing being applied to it
(and when O/D'ing, also the Track(s) already recorded).
Do I use the 8 analog outputs on the Digi 002 as sends?
What area of PTLE do I use to set this up?
I have heard much about latency issues - some other I/O boxes like the Tascam FW-1884 have
a "zero-latency" button, but it basically bypasses all PC processing and feeds the raw
mic signal - seems pretty crude.
What can I expect from the Digi002/PTLE hardware/software combination in that regard?
If I set it up so that the effected signal is being fed back into monitor mixes, that I will
have "latency"? I know the answer to some degree is "yes" - even though the amount of
time is tiny, it still takes some time for the CPU to process the effects, re-send it out, etc.
Anyway, rather than go on about this, perhaps the question is clear enough to start?
Thanks a lot - it's a question that's been bugging me for quite a while.
