i recently purchased an adat hd 24 and i'm going to use it with a behringer mx3282a board which i haven't purchased yet, from what i heard this board direct out on each channel, this means that i will need to connect it with the adat using the inserts,my question is,what type of cables do i need for that,i'll appreciate the help than anyone can give me,thanks a lot!!!

I would get some 1/4" TRS snakes.

the direct out of the board is different from the insert. it is a balanced 1/4" out. the insert is used for a compressor or other channel specific fx. you will need (6) 8ch TRS snakes to get 24 tracks to and from the HD24

sorry, what i meant about the behringer board is that i heard it doesn't have direct outs on each channel, tha means i will have to use the inserts for connection with the hd 24,thanks for the help.

You might want to check out a Yamaha 01V96 board with the 16 channel ADAT card. Then you could do 24 tracks directly to the HD24 in digital format all through the board. The Yamaha has direct outs for every channel and you can assign them the way you need them or switch them around with the recall of a patch library. I am really a BIG FAN of this mixer. I use it everyday and it is just a great board for the money. The mixer can also double for a control surface for your DAW if you want to fly the tracks from the MD24 to a computer. For cables all you would need is 6 ADAT Lightpipe cables. You could either use the A/D converters in the board or record directly to the MD24 and monitor in the Yamaha.

Pages 21 through 28 of the HD24 manual deal with connections to a mixer. You should read up on "input normalling" of the recorder. You can then use the group outputs of your desk ( should be an 8 buss? )to the first 8 inputs of your recorder. The recorders outputs will go to your mixers' line level inputs.

I just want to say that i hate berringer for not putting direct outs on their mixers. My board works great for live sound but makes me really mad when it comes to recording. This is what i get for being cheap lol.
