In my small home studio (G4, ADAT, 1604VLZ, motu828, Event powered monitors) I get a pretty constant noise. NOT a buzz or hum, more like a combination of wind blowing across a live mic and radio static. Doesn't get into the recorded audio, but a nuicance. Turning things off, switching cables around, wiggling wires... nothing makes a dent. Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

Do the Event's do it with nothing else connected to them?

If so, have them serviced. If not, what must you connect in order to have the problem surface? That will reveal your answer.

Side note, the amps in those monitors are rather dirty so if your ears are really tuned that could be what you're hearing.

if your hearing radio static then you might be pickup a radio station....this is caused by bad grounding if your main electrical system....call an electrician.

I guess I would start at one end of the signal chain and disconnect everything and work to the other end. If no noise, add the next component until you detect a significant noise increase. That should be the culprit.

What you described to me is either noise in your preamps (do you have the gain turned up higher than need be?) or, as Randy suggested, RFI from nearby radio, broadcast TV, or 2-way radio.
