I'm very new to VST thing, please explain to me.
I'v been using 2 computer, 1st one for sequencing 2nd one for recording because the 1st one has many ports and I could use lots of synt. The 2nd com is a note book and I'm using with Tascam US 224 and I'm switching from SONAR3 to cubase SX2, it shows that I could use vst instruments.
Does the vst insturment (is it the same as vst plugins?) work similar to soundfont? and if it is how could I make audio tracks from them because the output audio come out at the same place.

Thank you

I'd been searching how.. and then I have a chance to try out. In cubase sx the vst instrument, it works just like a synthisizer when I add an instrument in the vst instrument, I'll see the port prepare to be selected in the midi out port. If I want to mix down the audio it works automatic like mixdown the recorded audio because the sound of the vst instrument are already apply to audio out. It's great to use and I think I have to use a lot of memory. Any comment? who knew this thing before me?

When you load a VST instrument in Cubase SX2 it automatically creates a midi track for that instrument and an audio output track for that instrument so that the actual sound never leaves the cubase environment ( unless you asign it to...). Some VSTi's will require a lot of system overhead, but others are very minimal. It really depends on what you are using and how you are using it:)
