I'm working on building a project studio for voice over work. PC based, 2 channel, building it from the ground up. Have around 3k for mic, pre, and a/d converter. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I can give ya an idea on what you should do with the computer and what to use to record. I would say go with a 3.2 gig intel, 1 gig of ram, serial ata drive of whatever size you decide, and a burner. The os you should us would be XP Pro. A system like that would be a little over 1000 so it's a lot cheaper then going with a MAC and if you get something just like that you would be able to match the performance of a MAC. For the recording aspect i would say go with a Pro Tools MBOX. It's 2 channels and is cheap but still gives you all the features of protools. So there are a few ideas for ya.

Are you currently using a sound card and interface? If so, what are you using?

We're building the studio from the ground up. The PC is yet to be built and I have that set up. I'm familiar with MOTU and Echo interfaces, but haven't worked on anything under 8 channels, which would be serious overkill. I haven't settled on anything to get the audio into the pc yet. I need as good and simple as I can get for around 3k plus the interface. Its going to be for recording radio commercial vocal tracs. Thinking Vegas or Cubase for editing.

For PC, stay away, far, away from MOTU. MOTU plays very nice with Mac, but not always so nice with PC.

Have a look at RME or Lynx.

Thanks Michael. I've played with Motu, but only on a Mac.
