Greetings all you fellow drumheads!
My name is Jeff Rodgers and I will be the new moderator for the Beat Box. Ted has asked me to help out since he does a few other forums as well and... well I don't. I thought that as my first formal post I should put a few notes about my percussive background out here so ya'll can beat me up about it!
I've been playing for 21 years now... and boy are my arms tired!! (sorry had to do that) I have a BA in music (percussion) from Kent State University and am also a graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music. I spent 4 years as a drummer/percussionist with the Marine Band at Parris Island. That means I can play a mean Sousa march and call in a air strike!
It wasn't all about the cool uniforms, I got to open for Toby Kieth, James Brown, kick the Savannah Jazz Orchestra...and even play the Watermelon festival in South Carolina!
I've studied with a ton of great teachers to include the Moeller technique with the great Jim Chapin.
I've done work as a drum tech, roadie, studio drummer and teacher. I've also owned my own studio and tought music and audio engineering at a college.
I love vintage drums and own several Rogers kits, V-drums, and most recently a Pacific kit.
I look forward to continuing Ted's work as well as bringing some new views to the forum.
Thanks!
