The TLM-103 is great on certain vocals, good on many, nasty as heck on some. I never liked the U87 (its kinda-sorta big brother) on piano, but some people do.
The RE20 is great for voice-over, bass cabinets, and the occasional kick drum.
The AKG C1000s is a great handheld weapon for keeping people off the mix position. It might also work as a hammer.
Don't know about any of the others. A couple of them I've never heard of.

If you're going to hit somone, don't use the c1000s, it would fall apart and only piss off someone. Use the RE20, bludgen them with it, and then put it back on the bass cab. That is a true multi purpose mic.

This sounds weird, but I had a *great* experience with a c1000. Live. A chick in a bluegrass band used it on fiddle. I've never heard a violin sound so smooth before.
But I was running monitors. Not front of house. --No feedback with the c1000 either, but I know a little secret called gain structure.

If we're talking multi-purpose, it's a bummer he doesn't have a 58.

I have had really nice results using the C1000 on guitar cabs.

RE-20 + b-15 + p-bass ( ok the it's two ) = bass. if you don't peddle to fast that is.
C1000 sorry but got two go with cheap weapon just not sure if it would hold up as a hammer around here,
and for Christmas me want's a sytek MPT-1 and i think i could be happy with one, maybe, i'll try, and try hard.
ok!
